Roger Naylor Celebrates Arizona State Parks in Latest Book
I’m happy to announce the release of my latest book—Arizona State Parks: A Guide to Amazing Places in the Grand Canyon State!
Like all my books, this was most definitely a labor of love. I’m an ardent advocate of these little gems, and the Arizona scenery and history they preserve. For years I’ve wanted to tell the story of our astonishing state parks.
The book offers even seasoned travelers a chance to experience a whole new side of Arizona. Discover small towns and quiet corners of the state where the options for fun are endless. Go for a hike, a bike ride, or a swim. Spend the morning fishing, or reading in a hammock. Pitch a tent or sleep in a cozy cabin. Jump in a kayak or the saddle. Attend a ranger-led program. Get up early to watch for wildlife or stay up late to study the stars. Have the picnic of your dreams. Breathe deep. Relax. Afterward, you’ll still make it home before the weekend is over.
Arizona State Parks: A Guide to Amazing Places in the Grand Canyon State is also packed with handy maps, charts, attractions, activities, and popular events, making it easy to plan your adventures. Get out and explore this remarkable state. Why should I have all the fun?
If you’d like to hear me blab in person about our award-winning system of state parks, and maybe buy a signed copy or two of the book, that will be easy. Here are a few upcoming appearances.

Lastly, I’ve started writing a series of Arizona-based humorous short stories. My first one is Last Call With the Ghost of Pancho Villa. It’s a goofy, funny tale set largely at the beautiful Gadsden Hotel in Douglas and involves two unlikely drinking buddies—one of whom is the ghost of Pancho Villa. Pancho’s ghost really is said to haunt the Gadsden. So even though the story is fiction, I tried to portray all Arizona legends, history, and locations as accurately as possible. These stories give me a chance to continue to share my passion for Arizona while having some fun spinning yarns. Last Call With the Ghost of Pancho Villa is only available as an eBook for the meager price of $1.99. You can read a sample and purchase it on Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
And keep an eye peeled for my next short story. It’s about a gang of Elvis Impersonators residing in Winslow!
Be sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter. All I do is celebrate the endless beauty of Arizona on a daily basis. Except for a week in spring when I rant about marshmallow Peeps—how the evil squish biscuits are the spawn of Satan and bent on world domination. Otherwise, it’s all-Arizona, all the time.
