Have you tried Peppermint & Spearmint Oil for oral hygiene?

Preliminary studies show that using Peppermint and/or Spearmint oil for oral hygiene can help delay the process of gum disease and gingivitis. Hear what Dr. Mike Glasmeier, a member of the American Dental Assoc. has to say about the use of these essential oils in Oral Hygiene:

“There have been multiple questions about certain different oils that are out on the market as to whether or not they can help cure or heal gum disease. Some of them being spearmint oil, peppermint oil and wintergreen oil. These oils are oils that have been found through studies that actually help cure things such as gum disease and even tooth decay. While the research is not there yet, there are some preliminary studies that suggest that using these oils in combination with normal routines such as brushing and flossing that they can actually help delay the process of gum disease and gingivitis. While it is not solely a contributor for reversing the disease, there are properties within the oils that have been found to be calming and relaxing to the tissue. We found that with the oils that there actually is a decrease in the bleeding when you would normally brush and floss. It help increases some of the circulation to the gums so the blood flow to the gums is increased making the gums easier to keep clean and certainly more comfortable. And certainly from a standpoint of that the oils do potentially have some antibacterial properties which can also help reduce the incidents of the bacteria that’s found within gum disease and also tooth decay”.

We recommend that you use Peppermint Jim’s Mint Oils daily by adding a drop or two to a half a cup of cold water. Then swish around you mouth, rinse, and spit. This will help prevent bad breath and whiten teeth. You can also add a couple of drops of Peppermint Jim’s Mint oil to your toothpaste before brushing. Because mint oils are also known for it’s for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties you can also alleviate tooth pain by applying the oil directly on the painful area, both in and outside the mouth (use cotton ball with oil and place on the affected area).
